Event: Medical Grade Polymers 2015

AMI's Medical Grade Polymers 2015 will showcase innovative uses of polymer in medical applications.

The event will focus on the use of thermoplastics and elastomers in manufacturing medical and surgical devices, including pharmaceutical delivery, implants, combination devices, wound care, patient-contact instruments, fluid exchange equipment, tissue scaffolds, catheters and bags.

In the medical market, material selection criteria range from matching the physical and chemical properties to biocompatibility testing and minimising extractables and leachables. Manufacturing technologies are advancing with cleanroom moulding and micro-extrusion and the customisation of devices with 3D printing. Innovative biodegradable materials have a key role in short-term applications such as cellular substrates and dispersible sutures.
