Drug delivery firm recognised with award nomination for safety syringe

Drug delivery device firm iinjec Technologies has been entered into the Pitch@Palace People’s Choice Award as it responds to the global health crisis that is associated with needlestick injuries.

The company has developed a safety syringe aimed to address the supply shortages in mass global vaccination campaigns while reducing unintended injuries, contamination, dosing errors, and disposal challenges.

iinjec’s safety syringe needle remains inside, deploys only during injection, and locks after the dose is delivered. The company’s development team will collaborate with World Health leaders, whose expertise is to introduce life-saving products into global health settings. 

The World Health Organisation reports needle stick injuries cause 1.3 million deaths per year and 21 million hepatitis infections, with 80% of health workers reporting needlestick injuries during their careers. Also, there are 16 billion syringes distributed globally while recycling and disposal of them remains unresolved.
