Dow DuPont to showcase healthcare tech portfolio and deliver presentations at MD&M West

Dow DuPont will showcase its combined portfolio of healthcare product technologies and solutions at MD&M West in Anaheim, California.

They will also showcase the Dow Corning soft skin adhesive and a presentation of the DuPont Tyvek 40L medical packaging material for protecting lightweight, lower-risk Class I and II devices.

Also featured are thermoplastics used to manufacture components in applications such as drug delivery devices, wearables, prosthetics and wound care. Booth visitors can learn about the high mechanical and chemical properties of DuPont Hytrel, Delrin, Zytel and Crastin grades in critical applications such as diabetes pump connectors, insulin pens and surgical retractors.

Dow Corning brand medical grade silicones, which include silicone elastomers, solutions for siliconisation also will be featured.

In addition to booth presence, the teams will give two presentations:

• Roger Hendrick, technical service & development scientist, DowDuPont Specialty Products Division, will give a presentation titled, “Healthcare Liquid Silicone Rubber for Low Temperature Overmoulding Applications” on Tuesday 5 February, from 10:15 - 11:00am, Pacific Standard Time (PST). Hendrick will discuss the characteristics of low-temperature - cure liquid silicone rubber, improvements in cure rheology and the material’s potential applications, among other important attributes.
• Nick Packet, medical device manufacturer specialist, and Kevin Grum, global technical service consultant, DowDuPont Specialty Products Division, will present “Understanding How Packaging Impacts Life Cycle Costs & the Journey of Your Medical Device” on Wednesday 6 February, from 1:00 - 2:00pm PST. They will discuss how packaging can add value to a product's life cycle – particularly the pack-out, sterilisation and distribution steps – and give examples featuring Tyvek 40L. They will focus on the impact of breathability of substrates on the full life cycle.

MD&M West takes place from 5-7 February.
