Digitisation leads trends at Medica and Compamed 2016
The Medica and Compamed trade fairs have come to a close after a consistently high visitor intake from specialists from all sectors of the health industry.
The scope of both shows was evident throughout the 19 halls in which exhibitors and visitors conversed. Medica had its largest exhibitor number to date with over 5,000 companies displaying their industry products and services.
Joachim Schäfer, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf said: “Medica, as a space for global business and creating contacts in all important markets, is simply unmissable. Our specialist visitors came from 135 different countries, with Asian emerging countries being particularly well represented. Around 60 percent were international visitors, which is a new high.”
Of all the exciting topics that were represented at Medica and Compamed, digitisation seemed to be one keyword that was discussed a lot. The rapidly advancing digitisation of the healthcare industry was represented through many forums of Medica. From the Medica Health IT Forum and the Medica Connected Healthcare Forum, the show offered a wide range of discussion related to the subject.
Other essential market trends were also highlighted through conferences such as the Medica Physio Conference which focused on “Joints and Joint Replacement” and the Medica Medicine Sports + Conference orientated towards specialists from the sport and preventative medicine sector.
The 39th German Hospital Conference highlighted health politics and practice-orientated sessions as part of its ‘Shaping the Future” theme. Hermann Gröhe, the German federal minister of health was a significant visitor who viewed innovations for modern and connected patient-centred care on a tour of the exhibition after the opening of Medica 2016 and the German Hospital Conference.
