Moulding Machine Maker Targets Chinese-Made Exports with €7 mn Ningbo Expansion

Injection moulding machine manufacturer Sumitomo (SHI) Demag has announced that it will invest about €7 mn in the expansion of production capacity at its plant in Ningbo, China. The subsidiary company there, Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo), is currently producing the Systec C machine series in with a clamping force ranging from 500 to 10,000 kN. In the future, further machine series from the Sumitomo (SHI) Demag product range will be produced in China. In addition, the subsidiary's export ratio, currently 25% shall be further increased. Besides the local processing enterprises, Demag Ningbo particularly supplies to injection moulding plants in South East Asia, in the Middle East and in Latin America.

The expansion of production capacity will increase the annual production capacity in China for the company from 650 injection moulding machines to 1,000. allows the company to meet the increased demand in China and other markets and pave the way for further increase in market share.

Stephan Greif, the CEO at Demag Ningbo has been managing the Ningbo site since 2005 and is going to contribute his knowledge also to the planned capacity expansion.
