Davis-Standard’s subsidiary opens new manufacturing building

Davis-Standard (Suzhou) Plastics Packaging Machinery, a developer and distributer of extrusion and converting technology, has announced the expansion of its manufacturing capabilities.

The new facility opened for operation at the end of April this year, providing an additional 35,000 square-foot (3,251 square-meter) of space close to the previously existing building in Suzhou.

The organisation state that these facilities will house control panel assembly and provide much-needed warehousing – part of the company’s long-term strategy within the region.

Jinsong Lin, general manager at Suzhou said: “The additional space will allow us to build more extrusion coating lines at our main plant while supporting other machine services, including faster delivery.

“The increased manufacturing capacity is a positive reflection of our growth over the past few years.”

The equipment that is sold to regional customers for medical tubing, extrusion coating and co-extrusion applications is built in Suzhou, as well as the assembly of electrical control panels, extruders and gearcases.

There is also a research and development facility at this location which is equipped with technology for testing a range of rigid and flexible products, as well as flexible polyvinyl chloride tubing for intravenous and fluid delivery. Examples include microbore tubing, multilumen and catheter tubing, endotracheal and tracheotomy tubing, bubble tubing, taper tubing etc.

Recently, Davis-Standard added a new dsX flex-pac 300S to the lab for customer trials. This is said to be a single station extrusion and lamination line built specifically for the Asian flexible packaging market.
