Covestro opens expanded facility

Global polymer company Covestro has announced it is ready to launch a new production facility for multi-layered flat films at its Dormagen site.

The new facility has a total investment of €20 million and represents a significant expansion for Covestro, the company state. The centre is home to a technical centre for film processing, a showroom and two renovated research laboratories

The films produced at the site are used in security cards, automotive interiors, medical devices and displays. The launch of the site will create 15 new jobs.

CTO Dr. Klaus Schäfer said: “This investment represents a significant expansion of our films business and a boost to Dormagen’s position as a competence centre for high-quality films. Establishing the new film production plant is part of our ongoing series of investments in the Dormagen site.”

Nina Schmarander, global head of the Specialty Films business at Covestro said: “This enables us to meet the growing demand for high-quality flat films and align ourselves even better with market trends. At the same time, it expands our range of tailored products, which create added value along the entire value chain.”
