Over 3,200 exhibitors from 40 countries and regions arrived for the first day of the 29th International CHINAPLAS Exhibition in Guangzhou.

The distinguished meeting and business platform for the plastics and rubber industries began on May 20, and runs until May 23.

This year’s exhibition space has exceeded 240,000 sqm and includes a newly setup theme zone.

A joint event, Design X Innovation, organised by Adsale, CHINAPLAS organiser, and BASF, the world’s leading chemical company began with a kick-off ceremony yesterday morning.

Andy Postlethwaite, Senior Vice President, Performance Materials Asia Pacific has pointed out the differences of this year’s event from his past participation at CHINAPLAS.

He said: “Participants can engage in a dialogue with thought leaders, including designers and experts from China and overseas about various aspects of design and innovation based on plastics technology.

“Additionally, product designers and BASF experts including the designfabrik and ULTRASIM team, will discuss upcoming trends and share their insights into design and materials.”

The events newest feature, Industrial Automation Zone, sees a wide range of highly efficient automation equipment such as robotics, sensor, drive, control system, visual control, dehydration and cooling systems on display.

Live demonstrations of robotics and fully automated production lines are held at ‘Robot Parade & Smart Production’ to illustrate the multi-functions, preciseness and flexibility of the robotics, as well as the manufacturing advantages brought by clever automation technologies.

Exhibits such as 3-Component Magnifier with Laser Engraving from Hong Kong Mould and Die Council and fully Automated Production Packaging System of Aviation Cup from SHINI can also be seen at the exhibition.

Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, said: "As an organizer, we will continue to join force with the industry to promote sustainability, advance technologies and leading development trends through our concurrent events; and to proactively contribute our part to create a better future.”
