Celanese reveals new polymers at K Show 2016

Manufacturer Celanese has revealed five new polymers at this year’s K Show.

The company has also showcased three trends which are driving polymer innovation such as polymer flexibility, light-weight structural components and polymer aesthetic.

The five polymers the company have shown include, Celapex high flow PEEK; a solution which enables moulding of thin wall, intricate parts with high precision and tight tolerance and which facilitates ease of processing. The high flow polymers address injection moulding processing issues typically associated with PEEK. Celstran high flow LFT is an advanced line of long fibre thermoplastics which allows moulders and designers to develop thinner, lighter and more efficient components and parts. Fortron flexible PPS is a highly durable, heat resistant polymer which is now available with the flexibility required for clips, fasteners, tubes, and cable ties. Hostaform M25IE POM was developed to meet the exacting performance and processing requirements for POM sheets while maintaining POM’s strength, durability, moisture and chemical resistance, and tribological properties. MetalLX allows the company to offer an extensive range of polymer appearance solutions to meet aesthetic and operation needs.

Celanese detailed the trends that are driving polymer innovation, speaking about the solutions needed for manufacturers that offer high flowability and dimensional stability for complex geometries in high-heat applications or light-weighting stability. The company’s new ranges of polymers allow for increased aesthetic capabilities, providing metal-effect, mould-in-colour, and a new piano black solution in nylon.
