Biomerics announces acquisition of FutureMatrix Interventional

North American medical device contract manufacturer, Biomerics, has announced it has acquired medical manufacturer, FutureMatrix Interventional (FMI).

Speaking about the acquisition, Travis Sessions, CEO of Biomerics, said: “We are pleased to add FMI’s capabilities to the Biomerics portfolio. Combining FMI with Biomerics’ existing medical device business establishes Biomerics as a leader in the attractive minimally invasive interventional segment of the medical device market.”

FMI was founded in 1993 by James Passmore. The company started off developed percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) catheters for the treatment of peripheral artery disease. Over the years, the company expanded its PTA balloon technologies and developed other peripheral vascular, kidney stone management, and urology catheters. Today the company employs over 400 employees.

Biomerics, operates over seven facilities located in Utah, Minnesota, Indiana, Costa Rica, and Texas. Founded in 2009, Biomerics has grown into a market leader in the minimally invasive interventional catheter market.
