Benvic to continue growth and innovation strategy

PVC compounds and ecological biopolymers firm Benvic, is set to continue its strategy of growth and innovation within the world’s medical and healthcare sectors.

The process will culminate this year in a showing for Benvic Medical at the world’s leading exhibition for the industry, Medica Compamed, Düsseldorf, November 15-18, 2021.

The business intends to feature at leading medical events throughout the world. Further acquisitions and new product developments from Benvic Medical are also expected – both in the field of medical polymers and in medical products and devices.

Historically, Benvic’s core business is PVC compounding. It was created in 1963 by its parent, Belgian PVC giant, Solvay. Benvic was then acquired in 2017 by Investindustrial, triggering a wave of company growth and acquisition which is to continue through 2021.

Benvic’s acquisition of Italian medical plastics processors, Modenplast (2019) and Luc & Bell (2020) means that Benvic Medical can supply extruded and injection moulded medical products and devices as well as medical grades of polymer for the production of same.

Luc Mertens, Benvic CEO said: “Our strategy is to build a vertically integrated medical division that delivers sustainable value to the evolving medical sector, that integrates with the rest of our group and – not least – delivers real environmental and social value. Over the past three years Benvic has been recasting its strategy and operations as the world’s materials company for the future. Benvic Medical will help us lead the way.:

Through 2021 Benvic Medical will release further details of all its technologies and capabilities in medical technology, including materials design and medical plastics processing, injection moulding, tubing and profile extrusion and other medical specialties.

Benvic’s parallel expertise in biopolymers (Plantura) and in self-sanitising polymers for healthcare and medicine (Plastisafe) will also contribute to the evolution of the Benvic Medical division.

Mertens added: “Our post COVID-19 society urgently needs medical innovation and healthcare security like never before. Benvic Medical polymers and products will help keep medical and healthcare worlds safe and functioning. There is much work and much innovation to do – and I am delighted to say that Benvic Medical has the resources and the capabilities to do it.”
