Bayer MaterialScience to Present Epurex Medical Polyurethane Films at Compamed

At Compamed in Düsseldorf, Germany, on November 20-22, 2013, polymer manufacturer Bayer MaterialScience will present a range of medical thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films from its Epurex Films subsidiary. Epurex Films is a leading company in the development and production of high performance TPU films. Two trademarked films being shown are Bayfol UX502 and Platilon.

Safe packaging for medical devices—Bayfol UX502

Medical devices like orthopaedic implants require careful handling. The packaging has to protect the sensitive product. Bayfol UX502 is a newly developed composite film designed for such packaging. The combination of a hard, deep-drawable layer with an abrasion-resistant, flexible layer creates a “2-in-1-film” with outstanding crack, abrasion and puncture resistance. Bayfol UX502 can withstand high mechanical stress and is easy to thermoform for a packaging made to measure.

Rapid wound healing—Platilon

Today’s wound management focuses on the patient’s well-being: healing needs to be accelerated and pain relieved quickly. Plasters made with Platilon films protect wounds from environmental influences and support further healing processes with their high breathability. For patients comfort, they fit and look like a second skin.

Skin-friendly surgical drapes—Platilon

Platilon films used in surgical drapes are breathable, provide reliable adhesive anchorage and can be sterilized. Surgical drapes made with Platilon films are skin friendly and conform to patient’s body shape. Surgeons value the mat surface and excellent adhesion for easy peel off after surgery.

The products will be available for demonstration at Bayer MaterialScience's booth in hall 8B, stand H30.
