Arburg to demonstrate Freeformers at Formnext

by

Arburg is to bring the Freeformer to Formnext which will be held in Frankfurt from 24-27 November 2015

Formnext is expected to attract attendees from additive manufacturing technology, mould construction, design and product development.

On Stand E30 in Hall 3.1, Arburg will use two Freeformers to demonstrate industrial additive manufacturing of fully functional plastic parts based on 3D CAD data and qualified standard granulates.

The Freeformer is equipped with two stationary discharge units which enable the Freeformer to process additional components in order or to build structures from a water-soluble support material, enabling complex part geometries to be realised.

The 3D CAD data for the parts being manufactured (STL files) is prepared offline on a PC.

Special software generates the necessary production data through slicing. Once the Freeformer controller has received this data, which determines the travel strokes of the axes, for example, production can begin.

Heinz Gaub, managing director technology & engineering at Arburg, said: “Our Freeformer and the Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF) technique offers plastic processing companies and service providers an additive manufacturing system. “
