American Injection Molding Institute to host course for medical device manufacturers

The American Injection Molding (AIM) Institute has announced a new course for OEM companies and moulding companies that are involved in the manufacturing of medical devices.

The course – Quality Systems for Medical Injection Moulding – will be taught by John Anes, an independent consultant with over 30 years’ management experience in medical device development, manufacture, and quality systems. It will be held in August at AIM’s headquarters in Erie, PA.

Companies that complete the course will benefit from detailed methods allowing them to compete at a higher level by implementing process systems that will improve product quality and company performance.

The course covers regulatory requires and ISO standards and includes information on the steps to achieve ISO certification. Also included is a review of documentation requirements for part and mould designs, instruction on mould/process validation and document control requirements for injection moulding.

Professor John Beaumont, president of AIM said: “We regularly work with companies that are involved in the development of medical devices. Through this interaction we realized that our industry would benefit from a course focused on medical device manufacturing. This industry specific course if the first of many that will be offered by the AIM Institute."
