Albis UK celebrates 50 years

In September this year Albis (UK), an international technical thermoplast compounding and distribution company, will celebrate its 50th anniversary

Established in September 1966 as Albis Plastic Company (Great Britain), the company began trading as a UK business and wholly owned subsidiary of the Albis Plastic based in Hamburg, Germany which was founded in 1961.

The original focus of the business was in trading polymers and plastics.

In 1986 Albis UK’s first major distribution contract with Bayer was signed and gave Albis UK the rights to distribute its polycarbonate and PC/ABS blends, Makrolon and Bayblend and also TPU (Desmopan) along with a number of speciality products such as Apec.

Albis said that this relationship is as strong as ever and continues with the former Bayer business now operating as Covestro.

In 2016 Albis Plastic will celebrate 50 years as a distribution partner for Covestro.

As the manufacturing of its business has grown and developed, Albis UK says it has always had a strong focus on quality, safety and the environment and has held TS16949 since 2005, the OHSAS18001 standard since 2011 and ISO14001 since 2012.

On the sales and technical side of the business much emphasis has been placed on market specialism and Albis UK said it has focused on healthcare and packaging.
