Albis Plastic expands healthcare portfolio

Technical thermoplastics compounder Albis Plastic has expanded its healthcare product portfolio with a number of new materials.

The materials are intended for use in medical devices, laboratory and diagnostic applications and also pharmaceutical packaging.

The company’s range of new grades meet the safety and functionality requirements of today’s healthcare market, including notification of change, regulatory testing and support. The products also ensure security of supply, Albis Plastic states.

Certain features of the new blends in include excellent impact resistance at low temperatures combined with high chemical resistance. Albis Plastic’s Makroblend M525 product is supplied by Covestro and can be used for housings of wearable medical devices that are in contact with unbroken skin.

Other products such as Albis Plastic’s Tritan MXF 121 offers an all colour rating as well as chemical resistance against aggressive hospital disinfectants. More so, Styrolux 4G60 by Ineos Styrolution has been developed to be used for drip chambers in IV infusion sets. The product is characterised by softness and transparency as well as good bonding properties.
