Review : Crowded Aisles at CPhI India

With over 920 exhibitors and more than 28,000 attendees from 118 countries, ICSE - CPhI is the largest pharmaceutical show in India. This year, P-MEC (co-located event dedicated to pharmaceutical machinery, equipment and technology with many European companies such as Plümat, Colpitt, GEA Pharma Systems) expended with 45 new companies exhibiting. 2012 also marks the first CPhI India Awards, designed to highlight innovations in product development, environmental health and safety, packaging and so on.

Several technical seminars have taken place providing the latest trends in the market and presenting in-depth information on topics facing the industry, including process innovation, extractables and leachables in elastomeric closures and drug delivery technology.

Generics are the major strength of the Indian pharmaceutical sector and the exports of drugs and pharmaceuticals from India are growing fast. As the exports are mainly focused on the US and the European market, the dominant trend concerning the IV drug delivery is in flexible bags (PP, PVC and EVA for stem cells collection). We met the leading laboratories specialising in injectable drugs. The majority of the requests for packaging concern antibiotics, painkillers, dextrose and saline solutions. We had few request for specific customised development for new products. This show was really successful, and Technoflex will be attending the next CPhI in Mumbai in 2013.
