Raumedic, a German contract medical device design and manufacturing firm with a specialism in injection moulding, extrusion and assembly, has announced that it will highlight its expertise in plasticisers and PTFE injection moulding at Medtec on February 26-28, 2013, in Stuttgart, Germany.
According to the announcement, Raumedic will show its broad product spectrum of extruded, injection moulded and assembled products at booth M60 in hall 1.
In extrusion, Raumedic boasts expertise in multilayer tubing with up to four different materials as well as microtubing with radiopaque stripes, multi lumen tubing and thin walled tubing with wall thicknesses of a human hair.
The company extrudes thermoplastic polymers as well as silicone and its experienced engineers provide support on the choice of the right material, design and construction for the customer specific applications.
In the field of injection moulding, Raumedic will show products with tightest tolerances and smallest dimensions. Multi shot injection moulding technology offers the possibility to combine different polymer materials in one production step for a permanent connection. Insert moulding is suitable for combining hard and soft thermoplastics together with a metal insert, for example a cannula. With two component sandwich moulding Raumedic improves the barrier properties of drug containers.
In assembly, Raumedic offers punching, printing, thermoforming, bonding, packaging and microchip technology. Over moulding onto tubing and fully automated assembly enable Raumedic to produce innovative customer specific products.
In terms of plasticisers, and particularly the issue concerning the registration of DEHP under REACH, the company has established already years ago alternative materials and plasticisers that are phthalate-free and involve minimal migration when in contact with blood.
Since last year Raumedic has been using the new raw material PTFE Moldflon, developed by German chemical company ElringKlinger. Thanks to Moldflon, it is now possible for the first time to process PTFE thermoplastically. Similar to the classic PTFE, Moldflon meets all requirements for use in medical instruments and construction components. It features a comprehensive chemical resistance and temperature resistance at high and extremely low temperatures. Moreover, it is non-flammable and possesses excellent gliding behaviour.
Raumedic offers the whole value added chain of a system supplier including all qualification and validation requirements. The basis for this is given with a 5,500 m² cleanroom production according to ISO14644 class 7 and a quality management system certified to ISO 13485.
