Seating Matters – a global manufacturer of therapeutic seating – has joined ABHI UK Pavilion at this year’s Medica trade fair (14 – 17 November 2022) where they will be launching their newest innovation in seating for Critical Care patients.
Sydney GoFlat is a lie-flat chair for critical care patients who require hoist or lateral transfers and is helping with early mobilisation and rehabilitation in hospitals around the world. The chair has been designed to enable safe and efficient transfer of critical care patients from lying in bed to a fully seated, clinically optimised position offering care professionals new options in early patient mobilisation.
Designed by therapists, the technology incorporates the Seating Matters principles of seating and pressure management to ensure that when repositioned and sitting out of bed that the patient is supported correctly to reduce the risk of pressure injuries. Sydney also incorporates ergonomically located handles and steering castors so that once the patient has been correctly positioned the care team can move the patient to different areas of the care facility.
In addition to their existing range of clinical therapeutic seating, the Seating Matters team is promoting their newly launched Sydney GoFlat at Medica 2022.
Paul Kelly, global head of sales & marketing said: “The benefits of early mobilisation, getting the patient out of bed and repositioning form key parts of the rehabilitation process. We look forward to promoting our new Sydney GoFlat, which is fast becoming a game-changer in patient moving & handling, at this year’s MEDICA. We look forward to joining the ABHI team and meeting with distribution partners in key markets across Europe, and to highlight how our innovations can expedite patients’ rehabilitation and recovery.”
Long periods of immobility are known to lead to poor functional and clinical outcomes. With early mobilisation patients can benefit from a timelier discharge from hospital, often with improved medical outcomes.
Used in critical care and ICU units, the Sydney GoFlat is enabling patients to get out of bed as early as possible, aiding their rehabilitation. It has been designed to form part of the initial process of getting patients out of bed, helping in both the physical and emotional rehabilitation of critical care patients
Seating Matters’ chairs are used in hospitals, long-term care facilities and people’s homes around the world and are renowned for helping with postural support and falls prevention. The chairs have also been clinically designed to help reduce the risk of pressure injuries, improving comfort and reducing the cost of care.
Pressure injuries remain a common problem throughout healthcare systems. It is estimated that pressure injuries affect 10% of the healthcare population, yet studies show that 95% are completely avoidable.
