Medical technology company, MedTech3D and 3D printing firm, Axial3D have joined together in an attempt to bring affordable expert medical segmentation and 3D printing to clinicians in South African hospitals.
3D printed patient-specific anatomical models are increasingly used within hospitals as a way to enhance patient care and surgical outcomes, support medical education and significantly reduce theatre costs.
By 2021, American research firm, Gartner, predicts that 25% of surgeons will use a 3D printed model in planning for surgery. Therefore, this highlights the importance of this partnership between Axial3D and MedTech3D which will ensure that surgeons in South Africa will have affordable access to high-quality 3D printed models for pre-operative planning.
