MELITEK, a Danish company specialising in elastomer and polymer compounds, has completed its expansion project of adding two new warehouses at its plant near Alslev, Denmark.
Each 1000 m2 high-storage warehouse enables the company to store an additional 1,800 tons of meliflex compounds (a range specially customised for pharmaceutical packaging, medical devices and diagnostics applications) and raw materials on-site.
In January, the company broke ground for the first stage of the new expansion — the construction of two additional warehouses at its Alslev, Denmark, plant.
Construction is already underway for the second stage of MELITEK's masterplan — adding another production hall and compounding line, which will become the company's fourth on-site line dedicated to meliflex compounds, bringing its total nominal capacity to more than 40,000 tons.
The new line is planned to be installed and ready for start-up by July 2022.
MELITEK's managing director and co-owner Kim Laursen said the investment in additional capacity will ensure a "strong and reliable" supply chain on both inbound and outbound materials.
