GW Plastics can now offer in-house mold design-and-build on an international scale with its flashless 32 cavity slide moulds.
The Vermont-based company will announce today at the MD&M East Exposition, its expansion of in-house Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) tooling at its affiliate, GW Silicone.
Established in 2008, GW Silicones supplies market leaders around the world with precision silicone manufacturing solutions. Understanding the differences and complexities of silicone versus thermoplastic tooling, GW Silicones’ team developed a robust LSR tooling standard to ensure that very fine details and tight tolerances are maintained for years of trouble-free production.
Within the past year, the company has successfully built and qualified multiple complex 32 cavity LSR slide moulds, greatly expanding its internal capabilities. Because of its in-house LSR tool design-and-build expertise, GW has been able to continuously offer its customers the option of building high cavitation, fully- automated, tight tolerance LSR moulds at a lower cost. GW Plastics has invested millions of dollars into its Tooling Division during the past few years to include more automation and improved technologies, providing additional resources to expand into LSR tooling.
Mark Hammond, GW Silicones General Manager: “Working closely with our in-house tool shop has allowed for this type of flexibility, improvement, and growth. There are not many companies who can say that they have the capabilities to build molds like these, and we could not be more proud and excited for the future.”
Jason Bassi, GW Silicones Business Development Manager, said: “Everything stems back to our seamless communication. There is no greater benefit than having talented tool designers, program managers, and process engineers all under one roof.” By creating a “one stop shop” environment, GW Plastics has proven that it can provide improved time-to-market and cost efficiency through its high-quality tooling process.
