Smithers Rapra is offering the Introduction to Plastics & Rubber Materials in Medical Devices course on 20-21 May, Shawbury, Shropshire.
The course is aimed at moulders and fabricators who are considering entering the medical device supply chain or for those already supplying but looking to work with polymer materials.
The course will look at:
What is classified as a medical device?
The scope of the EU Medical Device Directive (MDD) and its impact on the performance requirements of polymer materials;
The different quality systems: ISO 9001 and ISO 13485;
Additional technical criteria for the selection of medical grade polymer materials;
Options for sterilisation and their impact on different rubber and plastics materials;
Testing options for biocompatibility and
Manufacturing requirements for medical devices
